To start off the week, Hands On Science campers started off with two interesting experiments.
The first experiment they did was that of getting the iron out of cereal. They started off with "Total" cereal and crushed it down into smaller bits. After making those bits, these scientists then added some water and started the experiment.
To actually see the iron, they ran a magnet across the top of the cereal. As they slid the magnet across the cereal, the pieces of iron became visible.
After this excellent experiment, the campers got to see the Mentos/Diet Coke eruption. They learned how the gasses cause this explosion and were able to watch the reaction occur.
These young scientists have been making these experiments seem easy, but, reader beware, they aren't as easy as they look!
