Picking up Pennies in the Pool

The buckets, the divers, and the counters.
At the pool, day campers were attempting a penny dive.  The object of a penny dive is to collect as many pennies from the floor of the shallow end of the pool and collect them in a bucket.

You may have guessed that the campers were attempting to gather the most pennies to win points for either the Orange Lava or Green Slime.

As they swam around, they had a few of their teammates ensuring that the pennies were getting dropped into the correct color bucket and keeping tabs on how many pennies their side had acquired.

We are awaiting the final count, which will be completed at the end of the day, but as of right now the teams seem neck-and-neck for the win.

Enjoying the Pool

Campers enjoying a swim in the pool.
Now that our Congo Camp Slide has been completed, our Congo Campers have been enjoying pool even more.

During the hour that they have while at pool, these campers have been trying to get as many slides down the slide in as possible.

Each camper has their favorite one--green or blue.  As one camper put it, "on the blue slide, you go faster; but, on the green one, you get a smoother ride".

Everyone is glad to have the slides up and open and we will continue to enjoy the rides we get down them during the rest of summer!

Splendid Sun and Sliding Fun

This morning, our Congo Camp had the ribbon cutting ceremony to open up our brand-new slides.  Since the slides started to be installed, everyone has been anxiously awaiting the chance to ride down them.

Ms. Ashley and Zippy were the first to cut the ropes and they were excited to see the first sliders fly into the pool.

We hope our campers have fun the rest of the summer as they get to slip and slide into the pool!

3, 2, 1 . . . And, They're Off!

Our competing teams swimming for the win!
Our Camp Staff had their first annual swim meet this morning to see just who would claim "bragging rights" for the summer.

The competing teams were the Admin staff, lifeguards, counselors, and CITs.  Each team brought their A-game in hopes of beating the competing teams.

They all swam their hardest, but the winners were: the Lifeguards.  We congratulate them on their victory at the meet.

We also want to say great job to all of our competing teams!

The Slippery Slide

As you may have noticed, the new pool slide is almost finished. Last week, the blue slide was completed and, this week, we are looking forward to seeing the green slide come together.

Congo Campers and Counselors have been looking at it anxiously every day and are prepared to take a quick slip down the slide to soak themselves in the pool .

Keep your eyes open the next time you pass by the pool to see the slide in person. But, if you just can't wait, here is a picture to quell your anticipation!

Sliding through Summer

On a long, hot summer day, campers and counselors need a place to cool off. Congo Camps' cool off place is the swimming pool. Each day campers get the chance to relax and enjoy some time swimming and diving into the pool.
Recently, Congo Camp acquired a new addition for the pool: a water slide! This slide is in the process of being constructed (we'll have more pictures of the slide once it's finished!) so that campers have the chance to not only dive into the pool but also make a splash out of the slide.

The campers and staff are anxiously awaiting for the slide to be completed this coming week. Campers and counselors alike already enjoy the cool off time they get in the pool and the slide will definitely continue the fun everyone has at the pool.
