Media Mania Preps for the Show

A few of the pieces of art that will be on
display.
Our Media Mania campers are ending their session by hosting an art show of their art work.

This art show will be taking place at 2:30 in the main hallway.  All of our campers artwork will be on display and we definitely see some Picassos in our future.

We wish these campers luck during their art show and want to tell them great job on all of their work!

Magic Experience's Magic Show

Our magic camper levitating.

Our Magic Experience campers have been hosting a magic show in their room today to entertain both campers and counselors alike.

They had various acts ranging from a disappearing ball to a moving straw.  The most exciting trick was when our magic campers actually levitated a camper.

This amazing feat had all of their observers in awe and we hope that the parents enjoy their campers' performance later this afternoon.

Great job, Magic campers!

Upcoming Events!

Some of the excellent art that will be on
display tomorrow.
Two special events will be occurring tomorrow, Friday the 27th, for some of our specialty camps:

Our magicians in Magic Experience will be hosting a Magic Show for parents in the late morning at 11:30 before the end of the session.  They have been practicing many magic tricks over the first few days and are definitely ready to show their skills.

The artists in our Media Mania camp will be hosting an art show tomorrow in the afternoon at 2:30 so camper parents can enjoy viewing the many creative productions these campers have made.

We can't wait to see both of these camps show off their excellent abilities tomorrow at their special events!

Find the Camper!

Can you spot the camper on the wall?
One of the Carnival activities is the Velcro wall.  This activity is pretty similar to how it sounds.

The campers put on a special velcro suit.  Then, they take a running jump at a bouncy wall made of velcro.  As they jump up, their suit attaches to the wall and they get a few moments being stuck with no ground below them.

All of the campers have a blast getting to bounce around on this moon bounce before they spring onto the wall.

Each of the campers likes to see just how high they can get, but sometimes the difficulty is getting oneself down!

Spinning up Some Art

A Spin Art production.
At the Carnival, campers have the chance to still enjoy some arts & crafts by making Spin Art.

To make this art, the campers had to add colors onto a spinning palette.  Once the colors were added, the blank palette became a beautiful page of colors.

The campers enjoyed getting to make this art and see the various designs that came out.

Like fingerprints, the interesting part of Spin Art is that no two pieces are ever the same!

And Let the Carnival Begin!

A few of the Moon Bounces available
for campers.
Our Day Campers are having fun today as the Carnival continues all day and the end of day camp arrives.  There are many activities and moon bounces available for our campers to enjoy throughout the day.

One of the campers' favorite spots is the Cotton Candy stand--at which they can get freshly spun cotton candy.

There are also many moon bounces that the campers can go on such as the Spongebob bounce, the Madagascar obstacle course, and the velcro wall.

We hope our day campers have fun getting to enjoy all of the activities available today!

Tsunami Thursday

The waves may not be this big, but the water will
definitely keep campers cool!
And the rain has disappeared, so today the day campers get to enjoy a nice, wet Thursday.

A few of the exciting, water activities planned for today are a slip and slide, water inflatable, and carwash.

All of these events are being held by our various day camp areas such as Sports, Cracker Barrel, and Outdoor Ed.

A few of the day camp areas will continue with their normal activities such as Ropes, Equine, and Pool.  We are excited to see our campers get wet and wild with the Tsunami and we hope they have fun staying cool all day!

Prepare for Wet and Wild Day

The rain may have changed our plans today, but it will never end a fun time like Wet and Wild day.

Tomorrow, Wet and Wild day will be back on and have day campers participating in various activities.  Each day camp area has a special "water-based" activity planned for the campers.

One of the highlights for tomorrow is that arts & crafts will actually be having campers doing some watercoloring.

We can't wait to see all the events that are planned for tomorrow, so get excited campers!

Specialty Camps Take a Break

Specialty Campers preparing for the movie!
Last week, during the long day of rain, our day campers enjoyed a morning with a movie and some popcorn.  Well, to entertain themselves today, the specialty campers got to enjoy this also.

As the day campers supported other day campers at the basketball game, our specialty campers had a nice afternoon of watching a movie.

These campers have all been learning and doing many activities in their various camps and to have a nice relaxing afternoon was pleasant for many of them.

We hope they enjoyed their movie and we are all hoping that the rain stays away tomorrow!

Let's Go, Campers!

Campers having a huddle on court.
Today the Staff/Camper basketball game occurred with both teams being cheered on with great energy.

The staff brought their a-game as they tried to score against the excellent defensive of the camper team.  The camper team maintained a strong offensive, also, as they charged down the court to make baskets.

There was definitely a larger portion of campers cheering on their own camp players, but a few shouts of happiness occurred as the staff made baskets.

We are awaiting the final results of the game and, as soon as they are released, we will have them posted.

Slipping and Sliding

The slip-and-slide made for our campers.
The day campers had a fun midday activity: slip-and-slide!  Because of the heat of the day, a few our counselors thought it would be fun for the campers to get some more time to be wet.

Set up adjacent to the school, the slip-and-slide was covered in water and made a slick track for the campers to slide down.

Some went face first, others sitting up, and some even slid down on their backs.  Once they hit the bottom of the slide, they got to be drenched in the water pool at the bottom.

Occasionally, although all our campers had pool time, getting wet on a makeshift water slide is just too much fun!

Congo Conquest: Day 2

Even the Camp Office was decorated by
both sides.
We hope all our campers and counselors had fun during the first day of Congo Conquest.  Walking around, you could easily feel (and, see!) the Orange and Green spirit that was at Congo Camp.

Yesterday, each team competed to try and gain points for their side, and, at every activity, you could tell our campers were trying their hardest to score for their team.

We wish both of our teams good luck as they continue their competition today and we hope that they do well during each of the events.

Zippy Jests and Jokes

Zippy's new vehicle and Zippy's practical joke!
You may have noticed a jeep turned Congo Camp display when you drove onto or walked around campus yesterday and today.  Well, Zippy decided a practical joke was in order so our Congo Camp spirit could easily be seen off campus.

Zippy decided that sticking magnets to one of admin staff's jeep would be a fun way to make it more colorful and more spirited.  He also has claimed this vehicle as his own to ride around in when he gets the urge to get out of his shell.

He has been spying on both Congo Conquest sides to see how well they are doing, but he has stated that he will be remaining neutral throughout the competition.  He wishes both sides, "Good Luck", though, and will be out and about during the games!

Don't Lose Your Marbles

Campers attempting to grab the marbles.
All the day camp areas have a special activity planned for our Congo Conquest teams.  In Archery, the younger day campers are collecting marbles to earn points.  But, the difficulty is that they have to use their toes to pick up the marbles.

Each side (Orange Lava/Green Slime), had a kiddie pool in which to stick their feet and grab the marbles that lay at the bottom of the pool.

These campers were quite skilled at using their feet as hands and collected the marbles with ease.  We haven't heard the results from who is in the lead, but, as soon as we do, we will let you know!

Get Ready for Congo Conquest

Tomorrow, Congo Camp will no longer be one united team but rather two divided fronts.  On one side, we will have the Orange Lava and, on the other, we will have the Green Slime.

Since everyone has been waiting for the names to be announced, we will now finally make them public:

Orange Lava:
Jess (F4)
Bryan Van Buren (P10)
Abby (Arts & Crafts)

Green Slime
Sam (P2)
Kathleen (P8)
Kurt (Pool)

Keep checking back to find out about more about how each side does during the Conquest tomorrow!

Week 2 Begins

A Congo Camp wristband from our Arts & Crafts
Specialty Camp!
We hope everyone had a great weekend and is excited to start the second week of session 4.

There is a major event happening this week and we hope all our day campers are prepared.

Congo Conquest begins this week on Wednesday and we know that our Camp Staff has already begun to get energized for the events and activities.

We hope all our day campers are getting ready for the fun!

Our Congo Camp Firefighters

The suit some of our campers tried on.
As the firefighting visitors helped our campers learn more about the daily doings of a firefighter, they also let the campers experience some of their regular activities.

One of these activities was putting on and taking off the firesuit.  The campers were able to get all of the suit on, but the "fitting" part was a little difficult.

At the end of the day, our firefighters had a fire demo along with a tug-of-war.  We thank these firefighters for all they do and we appreciate them taking time to come visit us here at Congo Camp!

Splendid Sun and Sliding Fun

This morning, our Congo Camp had the ribbon cutting ceremony to open up our brand-new slides.  Since the slides started to be installed, everyone has been anxiously awaiting the chance to ride down them.

Ms. Ashley and Zippy were the first to cut the ropes and they were excited to see the first sliders fly into the pool.

We hope our campers have fun the rest of the summer as they get to slip and slide into the pool!

Cutting the Ribbon.
Our first slider enjoys a spill into the pool!
