Time Travelers Traveling Through Week 2

When you enter into the Time Travelers camp room, you can easily sense how far around the world they have traveled and how many points in time they have been to.
A great way to see the many places to which they have gone is looking at the bulletin board that shows all the work they have done.
Here are a few pictures of the many activities they have been doing and we hope that they enjoy the rest of their journeys in session 4.

Guro Animal Masks

One of the animal masks made by our campers.
When it comes to exploring cultures, our Time Travelers have been at the head of the line learning about the various peoples of the world.

Today, these campers learned about Guro Animal Masks which originated from the Guro Tribe of the Cote D'Ivoire. 

Each camper selected what animal they wanted to represent, then decorated their masks with skill to show these animals.  Quite a few of them were able to capture the essence of the animals they were representing and developed masks that were strikingly similar.

We know these campers are prepared for the many travels that await them during the second week of session 4.

"He Spent His Night Under African Skies"

The decorated masks from our Time Traveler campers.
Our Time Traveling campers may not be spending their night "under African skies", but they did get to learn how to make masks reminiscent of some African cultures. 

After they completed painting their masks, they moved into making beaded necklaces.  From various color beads in piles to patterned necklaces, these campers showed just how well they were able to make beaded jewelry.

We are glad to see our Time Traveling campers having fun on their trips throughout times and places!

Making the Masks with Time Travelers

A few of the masks that our Time Traveling
Campers created!
Our Time Travelers started off their day by decorating masks for the acting they are doing this afternoon. 

Over the course of this session, these time traveling campers will be learning all about the various items that have been made throughout history.

They will be studying hieroglyphs, making pyramids, and even creating sun-dried bricks.  Earlier this week, they made passports that they decorated to prepare for the traveling they would be doing. 

We hope that these Time Traveling campers have been enjoying their first two days of world travels and that they are prepared for the many travels they will complete over the rest of the sessions!
