Our Lego Campers' Lego City

Our Lego World: City Edition campers have completely finished the city and even mapped it out on a plastic lego road.

These campers worked diligently over the course of the session to complete the various aspects of the city to ensure that it was completed properly.

In this city, you have the major necessities: a car shop, a gas station, and a pizza parlor.  Each camper worked on one of the buildings and one the cars to make the city more complete.

One of our young Yoga campers moving into a position.

One of the most quiet and peaceful camps this session is Yoga camp.  In Yoga, our campers will be learning the various positions and postures required for Yoga.

They started off this morning with an interesting pose called the "camel" position.  For only the first day, these campers look like long term Yoga practicioners.

So, if you ever need a few minutes to cool down and clear your mind, then check out the Yoga camp for some relaxation time. 

We hope the Yoga campers are feeling relaxed after their Monday morning stretch.

A couple of the Subs with which our RC World campers played today.

Our RC World campers continued playing with the various remote control cars, trucks, and ships they have been constructing.

Today, they were controlling submarines which they actually placed into the pool.  Each submarine went quickly around in the water and you could definitely sense the fun the campers were having navigating these boats.

Yesterday, these campers also had a striker competition.  This competition was bracketed out and we are looking forward to finding out the champion.  Keep on constructing and remote controlling, RC World campers!

In the picture below, the DNA is the white strand within the liquid.  These campers have had their detective hats on these past three days and we look forward to them continuing their investigations. 

If you look closely, you can see the white sliver of DNA to the left of the stirrer.

We hope these campers have been enjoying the first few days of camp and we can't wait to see them perform later this week!

The Arts & Crafts campers worked with clay today as they formed pinch pot animals. 

A few of the masks that our Time Traveling Campers created!

Our Time Travelers started off their day by decorating masks for the acting they are doing this afternoon. 

Over the course of this session, these time traveling campers will be learning all about the various items that have been made throughout history.

They will be studying hieroglyphs, making pyramids, and even creating sun-dried bricks.  Earlier this week, they made passports that they decorated to prepare for the traveling they would be doing. 

We hope that these Time Traveling campers have been enjoying their first two days of world travels and that they are prepared for the many travels they will complete over the rest of the sessions!

In the Arts & Crafts camp, our artists were painting the birdhouses they made yesterday.  Each group of campers selected the colors they wanted to use and, then, developed a design.
After developing their design, the campers delved into painting their birdhouses.  Each camper approached each birdhouse with a unique plan.

A few campers selected solid-colored sides, while other campers did stripes or similar patterns.  We are anxiously anticipating the final painted products!

The CSI Congo Campers investigate a crime!

These campers will be solving mysteries all week and they have already started off on their forensic journey. 

The Congo Chefs were reaching the conclusion of their baking bonanza today as they finished off their delicious dessert plates.

Each group was actually able to amass all of the terrific treats they bought yesterday onto the tops of their cakes.

To kick off the Olympics, Congo Camp had an Opening Ceremony before letting all the groups head off to the events.

The Arts & Crafts counselors had the day campers coloring the Spanish flag today to celebrate the victory they had during the World Cup!

The Book Making campers were testing out their ability to make a new book today: the flag book. No, the pages aren't filled with actual flags, but they are filled with paper "flags" that represent the campers' interests.

From the morning until the evening, there are a few of our Congo Camp staff members who are always prepped and ready to do what it takes to keep Congo Camp flowing smoothly.

Book Making finished up their day by making a multilayered, accordion-folded book. After finishing the book, they prepared to add design to it by making stamps.

In Book Making, the campers were folding Four Pamphlet books tied together with a Friendship knot.

In How Things Work, the campers started off their day by learning more about electricity. During this time, they used some wires and batteries to see how things work.

Our Book Makers started to make photo albums, today, by first completing some paper folding, then connecting various paper folds together, and finally cutting pictures to fit those folds.
These selfmade photo albums are unique because they are not only a book but also a hangable frame. Yesterday, these book making campers performed a practice run of making the photo albums. And, this morning, they did the final project using all of the unique papers they had.
