Pony adventurers in Pony Adventures

One of the wonderful horses in our
Pony Adventures family!
Our Pony Adventures campers have been enjoying the morning as they ride their way through the day as the sun rides its way through the skies.

These campers have become master riders over the course of the session, and many of these campers have developed a very familial tie with the horses over the course of the summer.

As the session slowly comes to a close, we hope these campers have fun enjoying their last two days riding the horses during summer.

Have fun, Pony Campers!

Saddling Up with Pony Adventures

Campers practicing their riding skills.
The Pony Adventures campers enjoyed their first day of riding and were excited to jump right into their second day.

Every morning, these campers get to enjoy seeing the horses happy to greet them at the barn.

The counselors have been ensuring that the proper riding techniques are well learned by the campers so that in the future these campers will always ride the horse properly.

We hope these campers have fun as they enjoy riding through their Tuesday!

Riding into the Summer's End

Some of our wonderful horses.
Our Pony Adventures campers are enjoying the last session of Congo Camp by riding horses and getting in as much time with their equine friends as possible.

Their counselors have been having fun showing them new styles of riding and different commands to get the horse to do as you wish.

We hope these campers have enjoyed their first day of session and get to continue having fun as they ride through the rest of summer!

Pony Adventures with Great Adventures

The Pony Adventures campers taking the ponies
back to the barn.
Our Pony Adventures campers get to introduce the love of equines to our younger campers during the day and ensure that these campers learn the proper way to ride.

It's a great to see these campers interact and to see some of our Pony Adventures counselors introduce techniques to our youngest campers.

The Pony Adventures campers have been having a blast over the past four days learning about equine TLC.  We hope they have fun during these last two days of Pony Adventures camp and get to get their fill of riding!

Riding through the Session

One of our many
wonderful horses.
Our Pony Adventure campers are enjoying a wonderful session of riding, grooming, petting, and feeding the wonderful horses that have kept campers and counselors happy all summer.

The campers have been continuing to practice the skills that many of them learned at day camp this summer and are picking up new skills that will help them to be better riders.

All of the Pony Adventure campers love getting to be around the horses during the camp day and we are excited to see them continue to ride throughout the session!

Pony Adventures Preps Their Equipment

A camper and counselor working together
on Horse riding equipment.
Since the rain has kept our Pony Adventurers from riding, they took the time while inside to clean their various riding equipment.

The saddles sat atop the desks as the campers sponged them clean of the debris they had acquired over the course of the session.

Proper technique was being instructed by the Pony Adventures counselors to ensure the campers would be able to continue completing this in the future.

We are sure our Horses are missing their friends today as the rain keeps these companions apart.

Helping out the Horses

Equine in Action.
Our Pony Adventures and Equine counselors helped our campers learn an important part of caring for horses: daily exercise.

The horses, just like humans, need to have a bit of running around during the day.

The counselors started off by showing the campers how to keep the horses running in a circle, and once the campers learned the technique they took the reigns.

These campers have been enjoying learning the proper techniques of caring for and riding horses.

Pony Fun in Pony Adventures

One of the horses for which
 our Pony Adventures campers
care.

Pony Adventures has been having fun this session as they learn the many moves that one makes on a horse.

Not only have they been learning the moves of a horse but also they have learned how to complete daily care for a horse.

We are excited to see campers riding each day but we are also thankful for the TLC they provide for our horses.  With the various day camps having equine each day, the Pony Adventures campers keep our horses prepped and ready for those day campers.

Pony Adventures definitely enjoyed their first week of riding fun and we hope they continue to have this fun during the second week of session four!

Caring Campers=Happy Horses

Sometimes campers just want some down time, during the day, with our four-legged equine friends. Rather than practicing horseriding skills, the campers relaxed with the horses by feeding and petting them.

The horses definitely enjoy the love--and the many extra treats!--that they get during Congo Camp. Within only two months, our Congo Camp horses have enjoyed a birthday party and a wedding between the times they are having campers ride on their backs.

We are glad that our campers have had the chance to enjoy the horses these past two weeks and we wish them luck as they continue honing their riding abilities.

Trotting through the Day in Horses

"When you're ready to stop, then sit back and say, 'whoa'", advises one of the Equine counselors as campers finish having their horses trot.

Although many campers receive a helpful hand when on the horses, a few of the more experienced riders get to enjoy some time alone on the horse.

The Equine counselors have really been moving campers along in understanding how to enjoy horseback riding. Futhermore, the campers show, during their equine time, their intelligence of how to combine skills to master riding.

Having Fun in Horses

Although we had a little rain this week, that didn't prevent our campers from being able to still get a chance with our Equine counselors.

Getting to learn a little more about the parts of a horse always makes the riding easier. As we all faced the rain, the Equine counselors helped our campers learn a little more about the parts of a horse.

Today, the campers will get a chance to be back outside and around the horses, but from their learning yesterday, they will be armed with a little more information before getting back on the saddle.

A Congo Camp Wedding

Occasionally, Congo Camp gets to have a celebration; usually it's a birthday, but today we had a unique celebration: a marriage!

Don't worry, no campers were getting married, but two of our horses exchanged vows.

At 11:00 this morning, Tiger Lily and Mickey wed at a ceremony that included a cake of hay and some presents.

The picture on the left is from their honeymoon. The celebration occurred after one of the campers saw the horses rubbing noses during the day.

"I thought then that we should have a wedding for them," says the camper who saw the horses rubbing noses. Following, the campers decorated the stable and prepared the horses for the ceremony.

We would like to wish the best of luck to the Newlyweds!

Submarines at Congressional?

"Submarines are you ready to get wet?" asks the Camp Counselor of Zippy Sports. No, there really aren't submarines on campus, of course, Zippy Sports was playing the game "Battleships and Submarines" today.

This week Zippy Sports campers have done activities that vary from indoor soccer to campus hikes. The campers are excited every day to play different sports and do different activities. They have run, jumped, caught, and kicked their way through the week, having loads of fun playing sports each day. It's been great to see them laughing and smiling while out on the field; and, although most people want to stay inside during the summer, these campers can't wait to be on the field showing their skills.
