The Ropes Adventure campers made their way to the zipline by crawling up the vertical playpen.

Starting off on a net rope, the campers then have to climb up a ladder and through tires to make it to the top.  The difficulty of the vertical playpen is that the ladder and tires are connected by ropes which make them wobbly. 

These Ropes Adventure campers had no problem overcoming the vertical playpen, though, and they loved the final piece of the course which was getting to do the zipline.

We can't wait to see these campers have fun on their last day as they try to ensure they get to make their way on as many obstacles as possible!

As the camp session draws to a close, our Scrapbook campers presented the admin staff with a special treat: a Scrapbook of Congo Camp.

With all of the excellent work they have done on their own books, Ms. Ashley, Mr. Dan, and Ms. Ana were all excited to receive a scrapbook of the various activities, people, and events that occur at Congo Camp.

We all thank the Scrapbook camp for the excellent work they did and the Scrapbook they gave to Congo Camp!

One of the most well-known helping hands here at Congo Camp is Ms. Maria who works with the maintenance staff to help keep our campers safe and healthy!

Ms. Maria is a Congo Camp veteran and all of our campers love to see her smiling face greet them at various places around campus.

She helps out, many times, in the cafeteria to ensure our campers are receiving the proper food and drinks to keep them healthy. 

We all thank Ms. Maria for the help that she provides for all of us and we are happy to see her every day greeting us all with her happy and caring smile!

Zippy's new vehicle and Zippy's practical joke!

You may have noticed a jeep turned Congo Camp display when you drove onto or walked around campus yesterday and today.  Well, Zippy decided a practical joke was in order so our Congo Camp spirit could easily be seen off campus.

Zippy decided that sticking magnets to one of admin staff's jeep would be a fun way to make it more colorful and more spirited.  He also has claimed this vehicle as his own to ride around in when he gets the urge to get out of his shell.

He has been spying on both Congo Conquest sides to see how well they are doing, but he has stated that he will be remaining neutral throughout the competition.  He wishes both sides, "Good Luck", though, and will be out and about during the games!

Our Camp Staff had their first annual swim meet this morning to see just who would claim "bragging rights" for the summer.

The competing teams were the Admin staff, lifeguards, counselors, and CITs.  Each team brought their A-game in hopes of beating the competing teams.

They all swam their hardest, but the winners were: the Lifeguards.  We congratulate them on their victory at the meet. 

We also want to say great job to all of our competing teams!

From the morning until the evening, there are a few of our Congo Camp staff members who are always prepped and ready to do what it takes to keep Congo Camp flowing smoothly.

During an average day, campers are running around, playing sports and having fun doing various activities. Occasionally, though, a camper may take a small tumble and end up with a scratch or bruise. Well, as all Congo Campers know, the person that comes to the rescue is Nurse Helen.

Occasionally, (we could even say rarely!) Ana, the wonderful woman at the front desk, escapes the office and enjoys some time being out and about around Congo Camp.

This morning, July 14th, St. James campers infiltrated the camp office and played a practical joke on the Congo Camp staff.

For the final Friday of the second session, Congo Camp hosted the Congo Lip Sync. The performances included popular songs such as "I've Been Working on the Railroad", "Boom Boom Pow", "Thriller", and "Kung Fu Fighting".

The campers had been practicing all week and learning their coordinated moves with the Cracker Barrel Counselors.

At the end of the performances, Zippy and the Camp Staff made an appearance and performed Tina Turner's, "Rolling on the River".

The campers, counselors, and staff all enjoyed rehearsing for the final performances and enjoyed all the activities during the week. We hope every one has enjoyed the second session of Congo Camp and we look forward to seeing those campers returning for the third session! Enjoy the weekend!

Before the summer starts and Congo Camp is running at full speed, the counselors have a chance to get together and complete some fun activities. This year one of those activities was a scavenger hunt in Old Town.
