Now that our Congo Camp Slide has been completed, our Congo Campers have been enjoying pool even more.

Our Arts & Crafts specialty campers continued making new items today by constructing houses. These houses were made from popsicle sticks and glue.

These two materials helped these campers to develop some excellent houses and their constructions would definitely compare with Mr. Wright's.

Also, tomorrow, these campers will be painting the pinch-pot animals they made last week.  We are anticipating some well-decorated animals after they are finished.

Throughout the summer, you may hear Ms. Ana or Ms. Ashley call for a group over the radio, but rather than say a boring, old number, they use a unique name.  Or, maybe you hear one of day camp Counselors asking their group, "Please line up Wacky Watermelons."

Well, in case you were wondering, these names are in honor of our theme for this year: Groovy Garden.  Each group has a fruit or vegetable that is included in their names. 

These names definitely make our groups feel a little more connected and show their group spirit.  We hope that they like using their group names as much as we like to hear them!

Rather than baking the cookies themselves, they had premade cookies so our campers could get straight to the decorating. 
From single- to multicolored icing and no sprinkles to sprinklerrific, our campers turned plain, old sugar cookies into delectable designs.
We hope they enjoyed eating their delicious designs as much as we like seeing them create the designs.

In Arts and Crafts, day campers enjoyed beginning the week with a free studio day. 

During their arts and crafts time, the campers were able to finish projects, continue projects, or just color if they wanted to.

These campers enjoyed having this free time in arts and crafts and the many projects they have created definitely show their creativity.

After running around, completing activities, and just plain having fun, our Congo Campers crave some lunchtime to both fill their appetites and relax their muscles. 

Well, Fairfax Food Service (FFS) is always to the rescue during lunchtime to provide our campers with delicious meals to fill bodies and re-energize minds for the rest of the day.

Our campers enjoy lunch time not only because they get time to eat but also because they get time with group members. 

We give a big thanks to FFS for the excellent food they bring us and it's great to see our campers full and focused after a nice meal!

In RC World, the campers took flight in two ways.  Not only did they launch their rockets this past Friday but also they started using their remote control helicopters.

During the launches on Friday, a few of the rockets took off but were lost in space while some others made a smooth and safe landing.

Each of the campers enjoyed seeing their rockets be deployed and watching them soar through the air. 

Today, the RC World campers started using their remote control helicopters.  Each helicopter lifted off the ground and got high into the air.

It is exciting to see these helicopters take flight and to see how much fun these campers are having using their remote controlled objects!

The EcoQuest campers worked on staining glass this morning as they decorated the various animals about which they have been learning.

Quite a few of the campers selected blowfish to paint, but some campers decided to paint turtles.  After they were finished, the campers were proud to show their turtles and were happy that they looked like Zippy.

We hope these EcoQuest campers are looking forward to the many activities that are planned for them this coming week of Congo Camp.

When it comes to exploring cultures, our Time Travelers have been at the head of the line learning about the various peoples of the world.

Today, these campers learned about Guro Animal Masks which originated from the Guro Tribe of the Cote D'Ivoire. 

Each camper selected what animal they wanted to represent, then decorated their masks with skill to show these animals.  Quite a few of them were able to capture the essence of the animals they were representing and developed masks that were strikingly similar.

We know these campers are prepared for the many travels that await them during the second week of session 4.

Our Drama campers, to prepare for their upcoming debut, started "blocking" where they will be on stage. 

This process shows just how well these campers can work because they have to learn each spot and how to move to them.

They have been practicing their lines over the weekend and recite them with ease.  We are excited for their performance that will occur at the end of this week.

CSI Congo finished off last week by making molds of their shoeprints.  When crimes occur, making molds of tracks is a common way to figure out who may have been there.

Well, our CSI Congo campers may not have committed a crime, but today they will be seeing exactly how a mold of their shoeprint comes out. 

We look forward to seeing the final products of these prints once they are finished; until then, check out the awesome molds they created!
